“…and do not give the devil a foothold.”
— Ephesians 4:27
On Sunday we learned there are many ways we can give the devil a foothold in our lives. Mainly through the baggage we identified in the form of stress. We identified 3 spiritual habits that not only reduces stress, but it closes the door on the devil who loves to operate in our emotions. These spiritual habits are: looking to God to meet ALL of my NEEDS, obeying God’s instruction about REST, and going to God for GUIDANCE. Each of these spiritual habits remind us to put God first in every area of our lives. We are safe in the hands and plan of the master. The moment we get away from seeking God first, we automatically open the door for the devil to work. The scripture says in Ephesians 4:27, “and do not give the enemy a foothold.” We are called to walk in the grace and freedom that is given in Christ, but we are also aware that there is a real enemy that desires to pull you away from the things of God. Let me encourage you this week to seek God first in every area of your life. Start your day off by seeking Him through Bible reading and prayer. Set your eyes and your heart on Jesus. He is good and has great plans for you. Today, choose to close the door on the enemy, and allow God to open the doors of His heaven upon you.
As you allow the Spirit of God to draw you close to Him I encourage you to be sensitive to His voice. Ask God to show you areas of your life that you are leaving open for the enemy to attack you in. God may be challenging you in the areas of relationships. Whatever it is, ask the Lord to help you close the door on the enemy in your life. God will help you. He loves you.
