“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”

— Ephesians 4:29

Ephesians 4:29 would bring radical change not only to our own lives, but to those around us, if we purposefully adhered to it.  We have been learning to “put off our old self, and put on our new self, created to be like God.”  When we allow that truth to permeate our actions and our daily speech, positive change will inevitably take place.  Unfortunately, we live in a society where it is has become too easy to judge and tear others down.  Our old nature can sometimes creep in and be quick to criticize and slow to encourage.  This week take the challenge to put on the new self and find someone (or more than one) to encourage!  Take time to appreciate others.  It’s one thing to think an appreciative thought, which is great, but let’s take the next step and verbalize it to them.  We can, and should ask God daily to help us guard our actions and our reactions.  He will help transform the way we think and speak.  May our words this week be filled with praise to God, and encouragement to those around us.  Love and appreciate you all
